President

Craig Lentz is the President of the Board of Directors and has served on the Board since the 1980s. Before retiring, he co-founded and served as Managing Director of The Windsor Group, a Boston-based management consulting firm established in 1984. The firm specialized in developing business strategies for corporate and privately held companies across global markets, including Europe and the Far East, with clients in industries such as energy, infrastructure, engineering, and consumer products.

Craig began his career as a design engineer after earning a degree in Architectural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and later received a Master’s from MIT Sloan School of Management. He previously worked with Arthur D. Little and Braxton Associates before founding his own firm. He has also served on several corporate boards.

Peter Kennett

Vice President

Peter Kennett is a registered professional engineer working in control systems, communications and power. After holding management positions in the private sector, Peter moved to the U.S. Department of Transportation, where he spent over 25 years working on projects like the Panama Canal Navigation System.  Peter was Chief Engineer for the ASR-11 / GPN-30 Airport Surveillance RADAR, and for the award-winning Ground-Based Detec & Avoid System (GBDAA), a system
supporting military drone operations.  Nearly all the systems involved had a technical foundation in early work on remote control and
communications created by Hammond Research, Inc.

Kennett began as a volunteer working on physical plant issues at the Castle in 1975.  In 1979, he joined the Board of Directors, subsequently holding the positions of Treasurer, President, and now, Vice President. After discharge from NAVY service, Kennett worked for an organ builder to design a unique combination memory action system for a new console supporting the merger of two organs for a church in Lynn. 

Subsequently, Peter worked with Kim Bolten in 1984/85 on the design and application equipment from Solid State, Ltd, to configure the combination memory action system for the new E.M. Skinner console…the console we are updating today with an Opus-Two ICS system.

Richard A. Harvey

Treasurer

Richard Harvey is the Treasurer of Hammond Museum, Inc. and has served on its Board for more than 30 years. He is President and co-founder of Stonebridge Associates, LLC, a Boston-based investment banking firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and strategic advisory services for family- and entrepreneur-owned businesses. With over 50 years of experience, Rich has also held leadership roles with Lehman Brothers and Orion International Advisors, and has frequently spoken at national and international finance conferences.

Rich currently serves on the Board of Advisors of Worthen Industries and has served on several corporate boards, including Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company, Jay Group, Aqua Cool Enterprises, and NABI Biopharmaceuticals. Rich is a certified Ambassador Director and Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors and has published widely on corporate culture and shareholder value.

He earned his A.B. from Dartmouth College and his M.B.A. with distinction from Tuck School of Business. A passionate student of medieval history, he has published research on fifteenth-century England and the mystery of the Princes in the Tower.

Mike Chapman

Board Member

Mike Chapman retired in 2019 after a career in product and program management with a variety of technology companies, mainly in the telecommunications and collaboration space.  Upon retirement, he took on the challenge of running the Formula Hybrid + Electric competition for his alma mater, the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth.  Each year, roughly 30 university teams design and build a Hybrid or Electric open-wheel racecar for the competition held at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH.  As Director, Mike oversees all aspects of the competition including profit and loss, sponsor relations, team acquisition, and operations management.

Mike earned an A.B. in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College, a B.E. from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Mike and his wife, Martha, grew up and currently live in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. Their two grown sons also live in the Boston area with their families. Martha retired after teaching elementary art in the Beverly School System for 25 years and currently teaches adult and elementary art classes.

When not attending to all things Hybrid, Mike keeps bees, rides and shows vintage motorcycles, and is working on his Pollinator Stewardship Certification.  He also serves with the Thayer School Annual Fund (Executive Committee and past Chair), Winthrop Field Committee (Chair), Emmanuel Church (past Council and past Trustee), and Manchester’s Elder Brethren (Executive Committee and past President).

Luis Fernández

Board Member

Luis Fernández is the Principal at Fernandez & Associates, an engineering company specializing in fire protection engineering services, which he founded in 1997. Earlier in his career, Luis worked for several engineering firms.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Luis moved to Boston to attend Northeastern University, where he earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. While working full-time, he attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute and earned an M.S. in Fire Protection Engineering. Luis is licensed to practice engineering in three states. Luis and his wife, Jane, have two children and live in Newbury, Massachusetts.

Kaitlin McCafferty

Board Member

Kaitlin McCafferty is a product marketing professional at OnePay, a fintech company focused on innovation in financial services. Prior to OnePay, she held senior roles in marketing with SoFi, Citizens, and Cognition Financial. Kaitlin also serves as Vice Chair of the Colby College  Association, where she was honored with the Edson V. Mitchell ’75 Distinguished Service Award for her leadership and contributions to the Colby community.

Kaitlin brings expertise in marketing, communications, and strategic engagement to her board service, with a passion for advancing organizations that strengthen community and connection.

Originally from Gloucester (Magnolia), and a graduate of Manchester High School, Kaitlin now lives in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. She has deep roots on the North Shore, where she grew up enjoying local traditions such as Daisy Nell’s performances and the haunted house at Hammond Castle. Kaitlin earned a B.A. in History from Colby College and an MBA from Babson College.

Liisa Nogelo

Board Member

Liisa Nogelo is an attorney and biotech executive with 25 years of corporate, transactional, R&D and commercial legal and leadership experience in the industry. Currently, Liisa is an independent strategic advisor to companies and investors. Prior to this work, Liisa was the Lead Counsel at the Gates Medical Research Institute, a non-profit medical organization dedicated to the development and effective use of novel drugs, biologics, and vaccines addressing substantial global health concerns. Prior to the Gates MRI, Liisa served as the Chief Legal Officer and Head of Business Operations at Surface Oncology, a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company developing next-generation immunotherapies. Prior to Surface, Liisa served as the General Counsel at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. Before joining the Broad, Liisa held senior positions on the R&D and corporate legal teams at Biogen. Early in her career, Liisa was an attorney at Bingham McCutchen, a large international law firm, where she advised private and public clients on a variety of corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing, company formation, venture capital transactions, securities offerings, corporate governance, compliance and employment issues.

Liisa grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts, right down the street from the Castle, and returned to the area in 2004. She and her husband, Doug Kerr, M.D., Ph.D., are active in the community. Together, they own and operate the Cripple Cove Studios, providing affordable studio space to local artists, and philanthropically support the Gloucester Public Schools and other local organizations. Through Boston University’s In Real Law program, Liisa mentors first-generation and diverse law students. Liisa formerly served on the board of directors of the Central Branch of the YMCA of Greater Boston and the community advisory board of the Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute, and coached a middle school boys travel basketball team.

Liisa earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Wellesley College and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law.

Karen Van Dyke

Board Member

Karen Van Dyke recently retired from the U.S. Government as the Director for Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) and Spectrum Management in the U.S. Department of Transportation Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology (OST-R).  Karen has been involved in navigation-related programs for over 36 years, starting at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, before transitioning to Department of Transportation (DOT) Headquarters in Washington, DC where she was responsible for overseeing the navigation program and development of policy positions on PNT and radiofrequency spectrum in coordination with DOT leadership within the Office of the Secretary of Transportation.

Karen earned a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.  She is a Fellow of the Institute of Navigation (ION), recipient of the ION Norman P. Hays Award, and served as ION President. Karen is a recipient of the Award for Meritorious Achievement (Silver Medal) from the Secretary of Transportation, U.S. Coast Guard Meritorious Public Service Award, and the 2025 GovExec Fed 100 Award.

Karen and her husband, Ken Kepchar, were married at the Hammond Castle Museum on August 7, 2004.
